All meetings are at Springside during Sunday Folkshul hours, unless noted.

Adult Education

We are an adult community as well as a school for children. Let’s create our own experiences, events, and learning! Help select next year’s focus and arrange for speakers of your choice. Want to teach a class or a workshop? Can you write a paragraph about one of this year’s classes? Contact Lou or Joan.

Education
This committee facilitates implementation and fulfillment of the Jewish Children’s Folkshul Education Mission Statement Goals and Values. The Committee has created a wonderful school curriculum and is working on lesson plans for three grades this year. The Education Committee also collaborates with the community to identify and resolve educational issues according to Folkshul policy and custom.

Finance
Help us to be a financially secure non-profit cooperative. If you have interest or experience in business, investments, bookkeeping or policy making, we need you!

Publications
Is there a writer, artist or photographer inside of you looking for a way to express your creativity? Become involved in the Folkshul Newsletter or become involved in our yearbook.

Social Action
Social action is a key part of our school curriculum and community philosophy. Social Action committee projects promote change and demonstrate our commitment to the ideal of social justice and to shared ethical values. The Committee runs the annual Thanksgiving Basket event, the MLK Day of Service program, “Souper” Sunday to benefit the Mitzvah Pantry, and works with the Teen Action Groups (TAGS) on global and local issues relevant to our youth.

Fundraising/Special Events
This committee raises money by facilitating fun activities like a bake-at-home pizza and cookie dough sale, Chanukah Crafts Bazaar, raffles, Mother’s Day flower sale and other events and projects to raise funds. You can be involved in just one project or the whole megillah! No solicitation (or personal donation) is required.

Publicity
Folkshul is a community as well as a school. Take photographs and do short write-ups for local newspapers to increase awareness of the Folkshul. Reach out to new families in the community at large. Contact Margie Singer
